Mini Me

After hearing about her ballet teacher's look-a-like daughter being described as a 'mini me', Mei-Li decided  to be my mini me.  This evening she did everything I did.  When I sat in my recliner to watch a tv show, she sat in her little recliner in exactly the same pose.  When I decided I wanted a popsicle, she de---nah, she wanted one anyway!  For hours though, my seven year old did everything she could to look like me, sound like me, and act like me.  She even came close to tears when I told her to go to sleep in her own bed.  She wanted to fall asleep in my bed so she could keep an eye on what I was doing.  She told me she would have to get up a few times to see what I was doing so she could be Mini Me.  She finally went to sleep after I promised that all I was going to do was go on my laptop and then read before I called it a day.

This single mother thing can be difficult at times, and I know that it's only going to get harder as Mei-Li grows older, but there are definitely pay-offs.  Tonight my daughter wants to be just like me; tonight, I am a Rock Star!

Here's my Mini Me with her own Mini Me.

  1. She sounds like a pretty amazing little girl, Snee - it might only be hard in terms of practicalities, not mother-daughter relationship. Love your posts!

  2. Oh, rose, we *do* have our moments! On the other hand, one of the highlights of her week is when she gets to fall asleep in my bed. She's snuffling next to me as I type...
